Plastic Surgery Isn’t Only for Women!

Eyelid Surgery Before and AfterWhen the idea of plastic surgery comes to mind, many believe only women are undergoing cosmetic procedures. This isn’t surprising since a lot of women look to cosmetic treatments to look and feel more attractive. Women do have a lot of pressure to maintain their appearance and look glamorous at all times. Although not often talked about, men do seek plastic surgery to achieve a more flattering, masculine appearance. Plastic surgery isn’t only for women! Dr. Taylor offers a variety of procedures to help men address their concerns and achieve their cosmetic goals.

Correct Sagging Eyelids

Drooping upper eyelids and puffy lower eyelids can make a man appear older. Sagging eyelids can also obstruct his vision. Eyelid surgery is one of the most requested procedures by men. It is a highly effective procedure for those who want to look younger and more refreshed. The procedure involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. Dr. Taylor performs eyelid surgery with skill and precision. He tries to make incisions as discreetly as possible; incisions are made along the natural crease of the upper eyelids and/or the lash line of the lower eyelids.

Alter the Size and Shape of the Nose

Because the nose is a central feature of the face, it can affect the entire facial appearance. Many men are unsatisfied with a nose that is too large, nostrils that are too wide, or a crooked nose. Rhinoplasty is a procedure performed to alter the size and shape of the nose to create a more desirable facial structure.

Rhinoplasty is performed to:

  • Reduce or increase the size of the nose
  • Alter the shape of the tip or bridge
  • Narrow the span of the nostrils
  • Change the angle between the nose and the upper lip

Remove Stubborn Fatty Tissue

Just as much as women, men care about their body size and weight. Many may try diet and exercise to meet their weight-loss goals to no avail. Often, liposuction is their only option for targeting troublesome areas. Fat can be removed from any area of the body using liposuction, and multiple areas can be addressed during one surgery. Common troublesome areas men are concerned with include the abdomen, breasts, arms, love handles, and thighs. Liposuction involves the injection of a tumescent fluid before removal that helps to break up the fat. The fat is suctioned using a cannula hooked up to a vacuum device.

Get Rid of “Man Boobs”

Some men have excess glandular tissue and fat in the breast region that causes the appearance of female-like breasts. Also known as gynecomastia, male breasts have become a mockery to some and have adopted embarrassing nicknames such as “man boobs.” However, men suffering from this condition do not find man boobs to be a laughing matter. Gynecomastia is a very common problem, affecting nearly 40 to 60 percent of the male population. Male breast reduction, or gynecomastia surgery, is an ideal solution for men who want to reduce their enlarged breasts. The procedure involves the use of excision, liposuction, or both to reduce glandular tissue and fat, providing a more masculine appearance.

According to the 2015 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, male breast reduction has increased 35 percent since 2000. Many men are achieving more confidence and feeling better about their bodies with gynecomastia surgery.
