Benefits of a Breast Lift

Posted July 19, 2016 in Breast Lift, Surgical Procedures

Gravity and genetics have the most significant impact on maintaining a youthful appearance to one’s breasts. Gravity applies additional downward tension on the tissues, and genetics can cause your tissues to stop producing collagen at a younger age. These factors combined can cause weak, drooping tissue that ages your appearance. For women, the effects of gravity and genetics can be most pronounced in the breasts. Breast lift surgery is designed to correct the look of breasts in women who have adequate breast volume but sagging tissue.

A Breast Lift to Restore Firmness

As you age, you may find that your once full and perky breasts have lost their youthful position. While they still have a pleasing size, your breasts may have begun to droop towards the floor. As the lower portion of the breast sits farther and farther below the inframammary crease, you can lose upper breast fullness and firmness in your tissues. By lifting the breast tissue, you can maintain your natural volume and restore a firmer feel.

A Breast Lift for Long-Lasting Correction

Many women are worried that their sagging breasts will be a reoccurring issue. However, a breast lift doesn’t solely lift the breast tissue. Once your breasts have been correctly repositioned on the chest, sutures are used to hold the tissue in its new position. Other sutures are placed around the breasts and are attached to the chest wall. This step provides internal support to weaker breast tissue to maintain longer lasting results.

A Breast Lift for Improved Areola Appearance

Women with sagging breasts may find that the nipple-areola complex is no longer proportional to the rest of the breast. For some the areola is too large, and for other the entire complex is poorly placed on the breast. During your breast lift the areola can be resized for a more natural appearance and the nipple-areola complex can be placed higher on the breast. Repositioning the nipple-areola complex helps the nipple have a more natural, outwards projection.

A Breast Lift Combined with an Augmentation

If you feel that your breasts lack both firmness and volume, then you should consider combining a breast lift with a breast augmentation. While the breast lift will improve sagging, a breast augmentation uses implants to add attractive volume to the breasts. Women with breast ptosis or sagging who receive a breast augmentation without a lift are frequently unhappy since they now find themselves with larger sagging breasts, and they may find that they develop future complications such as worsening sagging and faster sagging due to the weight of the implants.  Combining a breast lift with your augmentation will provide additional support to the breast tissue for long-lasting quality results.
