FAQs

How long will my plastic surgery results last?

Some procedures, such as facelifts, offer long-lasting results while others, including rhinoplasty, deliver permanent outcomes. When Dr. Taylor removes loose skin or stubborn areas of fat, the skin and fat do not return. However, time and gravity will continue to affect your appearance, leading to signs of aging. Dr. Taylor will provide instructions to help maintain your positive results for as long as possible.

How much time off do I need to take after plastic surgery?

The answer depends on the specific procedure you undergo. Patients typically need at least a week off after any surgery to rest and recuperate. More extensive procedures, such as a tummy tuck or Mommy Makeover, may require multiple weeks off. Dr. Taylor will provide you with a more detailed recovery plan at your initial consultation in our Pasadena office or virtually.

Will I have a scar after my surgery?

Any surgery leaves a scar, but Dr. Taylor uses advanced suturing techniques and careful incision placement to minimize its appearance. Incisions typically start as a raised, red line that gradually fades to white and flattens, making them less noticeable. We will also provide instructions for caring for your incisions to ensure optimal healing, such as scar treatments to use postoperatively.

Is plastic surgery painful?

Patients are either comfortably relaxed or asleep throughout their surgery, so the procedure is painless. During your recovery, Dr. Taylor will prescribe medication and provide instructions to keep you comfortable. Most patients are pleasantly surprised at how little discomfort they experience throughout the process.

Is surgery the only way to achieve my cosmetic goals?

It depends on your specific goals. If you want to change the size or shape of your breasts, surgery is the only option. If you want to reduce stubborn areas of fat, surgical and non-surgical treatments are available. Dr. Taylor will customize your treatment plan to ensure you are delighted with your results.

Should I lose weight before I undergo surgery?

If you are undergoing a body contouring procedure such as a tummy tuck, it is best to maintain a stable weight for at least three months before your procedure. However, weight loss is not necessarily a criterion for plastic surgery, unless your weight poses a health concern.

What happens if I lose or gain weight after my surgery?

Weight fluctuations can affect the results of procedures such as a tummy tuck, Mommy Makeover, or breast reduction. We recommend that patients achieve and maintain a stable weight before undergoing these surgeries. Facial procedures, such as rhinoplasty or eyelid surgery, are unlikely to be affected by weight fluctuation.

What happens if I get pregnant after my plastic surgery?

Most procedures won’t be affected by pregnancy. The exceptions are breast enhancement or a tummy tuck. As your appearance changes throughout pregnancy, you may see the results of your procedures change as well. Additional treatment can be performed after your pregnancy to restore your improvements if necessary.

Does breast surgery increase my risk for cancer?

Breast surgery, including augmentation, lifts, and reductions, does not increase a woman’s risk for common breast cancers. However, some implants can make it more challenging to interpret mammograms. If this is a concern, Dr. Taylor may recommend submuscular placement of breast implants to ensure your augmentation doesn’t interfere with your mammogram results in the future.

How much does plastic surgery cost?

The cost of plastic surgery varies depending on the procedure you choose, the extent of correction required, and other factors. Most patients are pleased to discover that plastic surgery is more affordable than they might think. Keep in mind that these procedures are an investment in your appearance and your self-confidence over the long term. Dr. Taylor will discuss the specific costs of your plastic surgery at your initial consultation.

Do you offer payment options to make my surgery more affordable?

Taylor Plastic Surgery Center has arranged financing options through third-party lending institutions, including Cherry and CareCredit®, to make plastic surgery more affordable for our patients. Patients can choose from no-interest or low-interest plans with flexible monthly payments that fit within their budgets.

Will my insurance cover my plastic surgery procedure?

Typically, health insurance does not cover cosmetic treatments like plastic surgery. Exceptions might include surgery performed for a disfigurement as a result of an accident, or a breast reduction to ease physical symptoms. If you think your procedure may qualify for insurance coverage, contact your provider.
